Mac Pro | UpgradesHappy Birthday to me! Well, my birthday was almost a week ago, but all the stuff I ordered (got cash for my birthday) is just starting to trickle in now. First in is my new 750 Gig boot drive from OWC. It’s a Samsung F1 Spinpoint with 32 Megs of cache.
Installation was a snap:
First, I opened up the Mac Pro.
I then removed the 2nd empty drive tray and secured the new drive. I then placed it back in the Mac Pro and booted it up.
Using Disk Utility, I formatted the drive as HFS+.
I then fired up the free Carbon Copy Cloner and let it clone my stock 320G drive to the new 750 Gig drive.
Once that was done, I erased the stock 320 Gig drive and used that for Time Machine. I know 320 Gigs is not a lot for a 750 Gig boot drive, but it will do for now until I can get my hands on a bigger Time Machine.
