3.5" Floppy Drive Restoration
June 25, 2011 Filed in: Accessories | Peripherals | Restoration | Retr0brite | Disassemblies | Vintage
I scored two 3.5” floppy drives in a mixed lot of vintage goodies being sold on eBay. I guess a lot of people passed it up assuming it was just a bunch of old cables. But if you clicked through the pictures posted these 2 gems popped out. I waited until the last minute and put in my bid. I scored the whole lot for $1.50!
Both the drive work, but the enclosures are pretty yellow:
One had a label stuck to the front. When I removed it, along with the Apple logo, the discoloration was made clear.
Retr0brite action!
A nice sunny day and a few hours in some peroxide and Oxy and they were as good as new!
They look right at home next to my Mac Plus and my Mac SE.
