Resizing Partitions in Leopard

Pasted Graphic 212

I’ve been dying for this feature. I couldn’t believe when I was using Tiger that this could not be done without destroying data.

With the new Disk Utility, this is a snap. Check out this screen capture. What I did was split my MacBook’s drive into 2 partitions and then resize them. Very easy.

It is also very easy to merge partitions. You will, however, lose data on the second partition.

This is great if you have a dual boot and find yourself using one OS more than the other. You can steal back some space from the partition that is not in use.
